The problem with BFA Sylvannas is "Stupid Evil"

Most of us are familiar with the alignment chart of good/evil and lawful/chaotic. Specifically for the evil alignment, you have your Galactic Empire Lawful Evil, bank robber neutral evil, the Joker chaotic evil. But there's also a fourth category, that of "stupid evil".To quote from TV tropesAn exaggerated form of For the Evulz, where a character feels the need to do evil things even at times such actions are clearly not in their best interests, sometimes to the point where it goes against basic self-preservation. Such characters will betray allies, kill team-mates, threaten or harm people who were previously willing to give them what they wanted, be petty, piss off all the wrong people, attack fellow villains to prove they're eviler, sabotage their leaders, treat underlings like pig shit, throw their weight around at every opportunity, engage in utterly pointless acts of cruelty, reward kindness with cruelty, spurn plans and start fights that they absolutely should not have started, rub salt in the wound even when it would destroy an already-present advantage, and generally be suicidally stupid simply because it's eeeevil. The fundamental problem with the BFA depiction of Sylvanas (and MOP Garrosh) is that they've are "Stupid Evil". The best type of evil is where one can recognize the immorality of the act, but also appreciate it's brilliance, the worst is when the reader can't even figure out how the evil character benefits from their actions. For a case study, lets look at the evil act of attacking a village and destroying it to deny it's resources from the enemy.Stupid EvilBurn the village, kill everyone, and not even bother to raise the corpses as soldiersLeave behind evidence of atrocity, hardening the will of those to discover it and making political victory impossibleEnd up being counter-productive in the long runSmart EvilBurn the village, salt the fields, allow soldiers to surrender, but don't kill the civilians. Treat them firmly but politelyExplain that this war isn't against them, but against their political leaders. Their village is an unfortunate but necessary casualtyGrant civilians safe passage to friendly territoryCreate a refugee crisis where the inability/unwillingness to accommodate refugees causes tension between refugees and existing inhabitants.Exploit the political fracture with propaganda/infiltrators/sabotage to weaken and divide the enemy.Sylvannas in Frozen Throne is a "smart evil" character, utilizing her strengths (mind control) to play her enemies against each other, overcome the odds, and prevail. Sylvannas in BFA is stupid evil, where everything she does is counterproductive and harms her overall goal of victory against the Alliance. I'd have fewer problems and even enjoy following around with BFA-Sylvanas's shenanigans if they were pragmatic, well thought out, and resulted in concrete material advantages. As is, her plans are irrational, poorly-thought out, and results in little advantage for the Horde, herself, or the Forsaken. It doesn't even take all that much to change Sylvanas' actions to be less catastrophically stupid. When attacking Darkshore, have the NE civilians rounded up but alive, guarded by a few horde NPC's that Alliance players kill laterIn the battle for Lordaeron, give Horde troops have masks in advance. Alternatively have the horde retreat and lure the alliance into Undercity before evacuating all the troops and destroying Undercity with only Alliance remaining in it.TL:DR : Blizzard can't write.
