YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!Important DatesLegion launches on August 30Normal and Heroic Emerald Nightmare opens on September 21Mythic Emerald Nightmare opens on September 28ZonesThe original intended order for leveling was Azsuna -> Val'sharah -> Highmountain -> Stormheim, but with dynamic scaling, you can do them in whatever order you like.In order to unlock flying later, you'll need to complete the Loremaster achievement for each zone. This will also have the side effect of leveling your reputation with each zone's primary faction.STORMHEIMFirst Impression You ever watch How to Train Your Dragon? Or Vikings? It's like that. And it's awesome. What to Expect Alliance vs Horde. Vyrkul. Titans. Dragons.Quick Lore Vyrkul come to die here. Lots of Titan Lore. A follow up to what happened in the Broken Shore.HIGHMOUNTAINFirst Impression It's a very Tauren-heavy zone and one of my least favourite. But that's just an opinion, if you enjoy their theme, you will enjoy this zone. What to Expect Tauren. Titans. Black Dragons. Nessingwary.Quick Lore Highmountain is where Neltharion lived prior to becoming Deathwing. There is currently war between the Native Tauren and the Drogbar (Mountain Trolls...Ogres...something I guess). More Titan Lore.VAL'SHARAHFirst Impression Quite possibly the most beautiful zone ever. What to Expect Night Elves. Druids. Emerald Dream/Nightmare. Green Dragons.Quick Lore Val'Sharah was shaped by the first druids to be an echo of the Emerald Dream. Malfurion and Illidan were born here. The Nightmare corruption seems to be spreading.AZSUNAFirst Impression This place is....grim. Gothic. Interesting. What to Expect Night Elves. Naga. Blue Dragons. Titans.Quick Lore Azsuna is where the Highborn cultivated their magic. Azshara cursed these lands so their spirits wander freely.LevelingAll nighter tips, if you're going that route.Pre Launch PreparationComplete the starting scenarios (Legion intro quests and 2 Khadgar scenarios in pre-patch)Clear your bags and quest logFarm up these items if you can:Heirloom trinketsWater Strider mount (takes a lot longer... if you don't have it yet, it may be too late unfortunately)Get some stacks of the following (WoD versions are fine):Goblin GlidersFood (health and mana, as required)Health potsDPS potsFlasksEverything starts in the new Dalaran, so log out there!Once Legion launchesReturn to Dalaran and your class hall to check for quests at the following times as you level:If you have alts, log onto them to get the rested XP counter started. As soon as you hit 101 (to get to your class hall)Between zonesTo turn in any crafting quests you've done while levelingAt 110 to pick up the quest required to get started on AK research.NotesYou don't have to rush to 110, you will have to go back to complete skipped stuff anyway. Doing leveling zones will give you flight paths, which are useful for doing world quests, rep, and unlock flying later. You either set yourself up for world quests by ditching a zone once you're friendly but level slower or do the whole zone for the high XP Dungeon/Pillar of Creation quests and level faster with more work at 110, but at least you get to start your Knowledge work orders faster. If you're prioritizing getting to 110 ASAP, don't do the Dalaran side quests until you're 110, there's no reason to. It's a big detour and isn't good exp, and you need to hit 110 fast. The sooner you hit 110, the sooner you can have all the research going, and then have nothing important to do other than finishing every quest, working on crafting, and completing your zone dungeon quests.Go back to your class hall after you ding 101. Set your hearthstone to your nearest safe area while leveling and use your Dalaran hearth to get back to Dalaran (or just go directly to your class hall, if you're lucky like that). This is when you can proceed in your class campaign quest, get some followers, get a recruit, and then puts you on a multi-hour mission. You then level as much as you can while this is going, then return as soon as it finishes, get to the next multi-hour mission after starting your class hall research, then proceed to finish leveling to 110 before that's done.Don't bother with world quests (except for AP/resources) until you've done most of Suramar. You'll get upgrades there, and you'll want to buy the Dalaran ring or bump your ilvl as high as you can, by doing dungeons or heroics, before you start doing those gear world quests. You can easily get to 810 before you do any of them, and if you do, the world quests will give you 825 gear, so holding off for a bit is worth it, and gives you time to unlock Suramar world quests for the chance at another gear quest in there as well. When you receive order hall campaign quests, do them immediately, they take really long to do and also give exp. There is no more leveling by dungeon, it’s gone. The XP you gain is minimal, but you will have a quest at the end of the questline of each zone that takes place in a dungeon. It gives you tons of exp + a nice piece of lvling gear so don’t hesitate to queue + quest when you received them.Zones scale with level but not with gear so beware alts! Although artifact quests do scale with gear.Leveling as a different spec from what you plan to main is just fine - you'll hardly set your main spec behind at all - but it's not necessary. You can level as a tank or a healer, though it may be slower unless you team up with someone. You can put 13 traits into your leveling artifact weapon that increase your damage while leveling.Make sure to get some Artifact Relics for your main spec as wellYour Order Hall followers will have some WoD-style Bodyguard functions. As an example, one of the Warlock ones is a 3min cd which stuns an enemy mob and increases damage they take by 15% for 15 seconds. You can get these abilities through the 'Combat Ally' space in your follower management windowThe 'Bonus' areas on the map similar to WoD will disappear when you hit 110 - no need for completionism hereCompleting all the zones doesn't get you much - but getting Friendly with each faction unlocks World Quests, which are key. So if you're close to 110 and haven't started a zone, go work on that.Leveling is a very small part of overall progression - so keep that in mind when making choices such as Order Hall Advancement tier 1.Tier 1 is a selection - higher chance for quest upgrades or +20% mission success chance for the first mission of each day. It's worth it to gather nodes while leveling, and to do the node-gathering quests that you get from Dalaran.for the crafting that you won't use until level 110, don't go far out of your way for those quests. You likely won't have access to the mats without paying huge AH prices anyway.Make sure to keep up with the class order hall campaign.Artifact power research cannot be started until LVL 110. Have 500 order hall resources ready. If playing "normally" you won't have to postpone class order hall upgrades. You will have enough resources to do both artifact power and class order hall upgrades. In fact postponing class order hall upgrades will postpone legendaries. The end quests in each zone provides an ilvl 800 item.Don't do world quests as soon as you can. They give gear according to your ilvl, so do some dungeons and get the Dalaran ring to boost your ilvl before doing world quests. The quest "A fallen star" will take you to Suramar, when you arrive, turn the other way, walk away from the beach, no run away from the beach cuz a lvl 110 rare spawns right there and it took me 3 minutes to retrieve my corpse after. Swim down, there will be a cave under water.Once you hit 110No world quests are available until you are friendly with all 5 factions. You need to be Friendly with all 5 Legion factions including Suramar to unlock world quests. If you have a group of friends to run with, it's smart to wait to unlock world quests and go right into mythic 0's at 110 to up your ilvl. that way when you do unlock world quests later that day, the gear you get is higher ilvl. (rewards are based off your ilvl)You can do all the world quest to maximize your gain of gear, artifact power gain and class order hall resources. The gold quests only reward about 80 gold, so they're not really worth the time.Normal dungeons won't help with gearing. If you aren't at heroic ilvl (810) and don't have any more useful World Quests, then focus on your Order Hall and Suramar questlines. Those questlines probably take priority over random Heroics as well.Make sure to do the Emissary quests. They give good reputation and Order Resources.Emissary quests are dailies that have you do 4 World Quests fitting a certain category. They stack up to 3 days so you don't have to log in as often. You can spend 6500 Order resources to upgrade an Order set piece from 810 to 840. I'd recommend not doing that - Order resources can be a pain to farm if you spend it so freely, and Heroic and Mythic dungeons will quickly gear you past it anyways. If you don't have the Loremaster achievement yet, consider finishing the leveling zones. They will give you the flight paths, which are very useful for doing world quests. There are a bunch of world bosses, 3 will spawn each week.Seals (bonus roll) are purchased at Dalaran, near Violet hold, you can buy it with either gold (really expensive) or order hall resource (even more expensive).Legendaries are random drops, can drop from HC dungeons, mythic dungeons, mythic+ dungeons, and any Legion raid regardless of difficulty.1 Legendary may be equipped at first, after you upgraded your class hall, which will cost a lot of order hall resources and a lot of time, you will be able to equip 2. Note that it will drop for the spec that you are choosing loot for, so if you just want that dps trinket from that boss when you are tank, make sure you've selected the right loot spec. You can get more and more artifact power through researching, which takes order hall resources, and upgrading class hall takes order hall resources, you won’t possibly have enough for both not to mention for seals, go for artifact research. Regardless, they cannot be mass produced like garrison resources so you will have to do a lot of world quest to be able to keep up.DISPUTED: Wait until at least lvl 6-7 of artifact research to go on treasure hunting, since when you loot treasure, they don’t respawn, so you don’t want to loot them at lvl 1 since you’d only get like 5 per./u/Xilodon:Even with AP scaling, those treasures still don't compare to other sources of AP available at max level and running around to collect them (when you could be running heroic/mythic dungeons or questing in Suramar) isn't time efficient. It's really better to just grab them as you see them while leveling so you can focus on more lucrative things at max level.)SuramarNightfallen (Suramar) reputation is important!Questlines in Suramar become available at certain points of Nightfallen reputation. There will be points where you have no quests in Suaramar until you gain rep.Gaining rep can be done by doing World Quests in Suramar. Especially the Withered Army Training scenario can get you a lot - but you need to perform well (better gear helps)Definitely make sure to finish the Emissary quest if it is for Suramar - it's the best reputation reward. The main currency that you will use in Suramar is Ancient mana. You can loot it from shards that are everywhere in Suramar (they do respawn). You need ancient mana to do quests which unlock dungeons (Arcway and Court of Stars), and possibly the Nighthold raid (not confirmed).Ancient Mana is really important, don't spend them lightly.Get to friendly to activate Arcway (Which will cost roughly around 1k AM).After a few quests there will be a new npc that gives you a buff that when you attack, you will spawn a puddle and if you stand in it, you will gain AM. The cost of this buff is 100 mana (if not nerfed), and can be reduced by activating pillars around Suramar. After activating them all, the cost of the buff is 10 mana. (The duration of the buff is 1 hour)You can unlock Arcway at 8k friendly and Court of the Stars at 12k Honored. No quest, no phase are involved in their unlock, just mid-rep… after which you will receive a quest to unlock them. (confusing, I know). Both dungeons are mythic-only.You can only gain a bit of rep with this zone through quests, the rest you must earn from dailies. There are quests all around the zones so look for them while travelling - you will need them even if the reward isn't great. After unlocking Court of Stars, if confirmed that Nighthold is not rep-locked, you can just stop at at mid Honored if you don’t want to fly in 7.1.CraftingThe main crafting ingredient for Legion is Blood of Sargeras, you do not need a gathering profession to get these though with one you can get it much faster. These can be gained from dungeons, world quests, rare mobs, etc.You learn new recipes/patterns by doing quests.Catching up with Legion professions is very easy, similar to WoD.Through questing and gaining rep with certain factions, you can by items to reduce the cost for your crafts. The new upgrade items for crafted gears are very similar to WoD ones. Though this time around, the ilvl cap is not high.Loot SystemLoot in Legion will be completely RNG. You can get a mythic-raid piece from a normal dungeon or even a world quest. The highest ilvl for loot is 895, nothing goes above it for this patch except your artifact weapon which can go up to 905. Basically why you want to raid and do mythic+ dungeon is for higher chances of getting the good stuff.Base ilvl is 840, which means you get a 100% of getting a 840 if something drops. And you have let’s say 50% at hitting a 845, 25% at hitting a 850, 12.5% at a 855 and so on. (Though in reality the percentage is much, much lower)You have two options: either do raids, do mythic+ dungeons or do world quests and pray to the RNG lord.DungeonsAfter finishing a mythic dungeon, you will have a chance to receive a keystone after the last boss. You will get a +2 key stone for a mythic +2 dungeon. And after you finish that +2, depends on how much time it takes you, you will get a +3, +4 or even +5 if you are fast enough. You don’t get loot from bosses in mythic+ dungeons. Depending on your time, you will get 1+ loot items at the end.The loot ilvl will increase with the level of the dungeon, like +2 will give 845, +4 850 and so on (subject to change). If you fail to complete the dungeon in time, you can still get a piece of loot at the end. If you wish to advance to further difficulties, you must re-insert your keystone and redo the dungeon IN TIME, and you don’t get loot this time.At the end of the week (weekly reset), you will get a chest in your class hall containing a piece of loot and a keystone based on the highest level of the dungeon you’ve completed the previous week. The loot from this chest is higher than the loot from the dungeon.ArtifactsPoneria wrote a lengthy article on the math behind leveling up multiple artifact weapons. Check it out to get a better understanding of where you should be spending your artifact power. Two fully-filled artifact weapons (a main spec and one offspec) is doable. But once you get to the hidden "percentage improvement" traits, you want to focus on one main spec early on in Legion. The artifact power costs of each additional percentage will get prohibitively high for multiple specs. If you are interested in looking at more artifact weapon numbers, check out this spreadsheet by Kibo. You should put 13 traits into your leveling artifact weapon that increase your damage. Not only will you kill stuff faster while leveling, it only costs you a net of 6,500 artifact power which doesn't meaningfully set you behind at all. By the time you're at getting trait #20/25/30, 6,500 artifact power is nothing. The guy who spend 6,500 artifact power in his leveling weapon will have spent 3,963,790 artifact power in his main artifact weapon, while the guy who didn't will have spent 3,970,290 in his by the time he unlocked artifact trait #33.Not only all of that, but it's not like prior expansions where you hit level 110, change to your heal spec, and literally never go back DPS again. There's a lot of questing/solo play at 110 that you're going to need to do. You're unnecessarily gimping your DPS for those activities for a negligible savings early on.Artifact PowerArtifact Knowledge work orders unlock in your Class Hall when you hit 110 - start them ASAP.Each work order takes 5 days and grants you 25% additional Artifact Power, stacking. There is a catch up mechanism that will lower it later.Artifact Power doesn't really 'tie' you to a spec for a while. The 14th Artifact point costs as much as the first 13 put together and goes up from there. So you are safe to take off-specs to level 13.You can re-spec you artifact weapon, but cannot pull artifact power out of it.You can get second and third artifact weapons at 102.Artifact RelicsRelics are fairly rare - mostly found from quests. So they are valuable. When turning in a quest that rewards a Relic, you can change specs to change which Relics are rewarded to match that other spec. This way you can keep offspecs from falling too far behind. When you complete your Class Hall questline (which will be sooner than you think), you'll unlock the 3rd relic slot in your weapon. Try to have a spare Relic available to fill that for each weapon. Luckily that quest also rewards a Relic.Artifact CostTrait#Cost110023003325435053756400742584509525106251175012875131,000146,840......2030,6002139,5202250,8802364,800......33946,600341,245,840The sooner you unlock Class Hall Tier 6, the sooner you can equip more legendaries. Some will be available again from Inscription Glyphs when Legion launches.Others are available for you now! Are you a Druid missing your stag appearance? A Shaman that misses making it rain (of frogs)? Check out this Reddit post with a list of vendors that sell cosmetic enhancements. Some like Quartermaster Miranda Breechlock in Eastern Plaguelands sell only a few items (she sells a Contemplation Tome for Paladins and a nifty toy for Priests). Others like Lorelae Wintersong in Moonglade sell many Tomes - any Druids looking for Flap or cosmetic effects should check her out.Speaking of Flap, if you are a Balance Druid, check out the FlappyBirb weakaura which creates some mini-games based on Flapping!Class toysAll these toys are obtainable right now, but they are not shown in the toybox if you dont have them.ClassToyDruidNature's BeaconHunterHunter's CallMageFamiliar StoneDalaran Initiates' PinPriestScarlet Confessional BookThaumaturgist's OrbShamanRaging Elemental StoneTadpole CloudseederVol'jin's Serpent TotemWaterspeaker's TotemSourcesSome useful notes for LegionMythic Cheat Sheet"Hidden" toysSome tips from what I learned playing Legion BetaPreachGaming: Legion Levelling - Hints and TipsThe Quick, Spoiler-Free(ish) "Which Zones Should I Try in Legion?"Tips for Legion - Leveling, Artifact Weapons, Addons, and MoreLegion Raiders Lexicon
